About this Digital Edition

Before and After Gallipoli: A Collection of Australian and Turkish Writings, edited by Rahmi Akçelik, was originally published in 1986 by the Australian-Turkish Friendship Society in Melbourne, as their Publications No. 2 [ISBN 0 9590789 1 6, ISSN 0815-385X].

The papers included in Part A of this publication were presented at the Australian-Turkish Friendship Society Conference Johnny Turk Before and After Gallipoli held in May 1985. The Selections of Turkish Writings in Part B and the Selected Poems from the Penguin Book of Turkish Verse were collated by the Editor Rahmi Akçelik.

This digital edition has been created by Umut Akçelik, to make the book freely accessible to anyone interested in the Gallipoli story from both Australian and Turkish perspectives. The text has been carefully transcribed from the original publication and formatted for comfortable reading on any device.

A small number of subheadings have been introduced into the longer pieces to help readers navigate them on screen. These are editorial additions and were not part of the 1986 publication.
